PC gaming vests
Video games, especially those played on the computer, are without a doubt a new culture. This culture has been brewing, cultivating and growing since the invention of rudimentary gaming logic.
Pong, despite being simplistic, was addicting. Pitfall, regardless of being an endless loop, was played until young players fingers risked falling off of their hands.
In recent years gaming has become more than just paddles and square “balls” on predestined lines. Games have become so realistic and made the gamer become immersed and entangled in storylines.
They had to become the character they were portraying in the game. Some games create such a buzz that thousands of web sites are created to show support – entire communities of gamers uniting under one banner.
Generating a unique gaming experience
Online gaming is the epitome of gaming as large groups of likeminded gamers gather together in a world created by man that is as big as our own, but smaller in the very real sense. They create characters and personas and act out their hero or villain fantasies.
There has been one thing missing though. Realism. Not realism in the mere sense of graphics being realistic – because that day has come and gone. Not realism in the sense that a game draws you in so much that you feel as if you are living it.
That has also come and gone and not realism in the sense that a worldwide phenomenon with millions of likeminded gamers living the same fantasy.
That has been done. What has NOT been done is that spark of realism that makes you FEEL the game.
Granted, you have rumble controllers and all that, but nothing to the extent that makes you feel like you have been punched, kicked, shot or even feel the G-Forces of that jet you are flying in or the speed of the race car. That is, until now.
The gaming industry has finally caught up with the technology that is available and now, Gaming Vests are here. Available for computer gaming at this stage they are being ported for use on the Wii, Xbox 360 and Playstation brand consoles.
Gaming vests add excitement and realism to your gaming
I am sure you are wondering what a gaming vest is. It looks like a military style vest – something like you would place Kevlar into. Inside well placed pockets are packs of plastic and air generators.
When you are shot, kicked, stabbed or punched (or any other type of physical force damage) these bags fill quickly with air in the location that you were struck in game. This gives the sensation of being hit (without the pain!). The same applies to flying a jet or driving a car. Several bags will fill up and press against your body to give you this sensation of pressure.
The bags work on what is called intelligent force feedback. Your game character gets struck and the hardware interprets the strike which forces the feedback back to your body through the vast.
All of this creates a sensation of realism unheard of. Even within virtual reality scenarios all you get it visual immersion and not a physical one. With the right game and right circumstances you will feel like you are the game. Imagine Call of Duty 4 or Condemned with a PC Gaming Vest. Yea – sweet idea isn’t it?
